Individualized Support

We work in collaboration with each woman to create a personalized plan of action to help her move forward in her professional and personal life.

Program

Women Mentoring Women

Caring volunteer mentors offer one-on-one advice and encouragement while developing a personalized plan of action with each participant. Our well-trained mentors help participants  address their immediate and long-term needs using relevant community resources. Our mentors are supportive individuals who encourage participants to make the commitment towards lasting personal growth and change.

Program

Empower

Our professional Career Coaches help women who are in a life transition move towards economic independence by providing career and life skill development. Our Career Coaches also offer self-advocacy skill building through community-based services that address the personal needs of the participant. Once a participant secures a job, the Career Coach provides on-going support to facilitate job retention.

New Beginnings

Understanding that incarceration presents unique challenges for future job seekers, Women’s Resource Center’s New Beginnings program provides enhanced gender-responsive mentoring services to women at Kent County Jail pre-release and up to 18 months post-release.

Program

Training to Work

The Training to Work program allows individuals currently in area work release programs to receive training through Grand Rapids Community College and other local institutions.  A staff career coach assists women in exploring career options, choosing an educational/training program and getting started. The career coach and volunteer mentors provide encouragement and moral support along the way helping participants stay on the path to completion.
