"I Was Seeking a Lifeline"

Michelle was referred to Women’s Resource Center a few years ago by a friend who was receiving services at the time. Michelle was a displaced worker with an education in criminal justice; but she was not working in that field. “I was experiencing a financial crisis, I was mentally broken. I was seeking a lifeline from any available source.” she says.

“I’ve taken the tools that the Women’s Resource Center has given me through my career transition, and I have gained strength, a strong foundation, self-sufficiency, and most of all, I’m achieving my goals.”

At WRC she was paired with a Career Coach who helped her put together a plan of action to overcome barriers to employment. Michelle learned job-seeking skills, received resume writing help and took part in mock interviews. She also had the opportunity to shop the clothes closet ”…which provided me with adequate and fashionable clothing for interviews and work that I could not have otherwise afforded” she says. Michelle says WRC equipped her for success, “I’ve taken the tools that the Women’s Resource Center has given me through my career transition, and I have gained strength, a strong foundation, self-sufficiency, and most of all, I’m achieving my goals.”
