2025 Pillar of Hope Honoree

The Pillar of Hope Award is presented to an individual whose life has been profoundly touched by the Women’s Resource Center, and who has demonstrated remarkable resilience in overcoming numerous obstacles. This award celebrates their unwavering courage, perseverance, and inspiring journey towards empowerment and positive transformation.

Tonya Williams

Tonya is a resilient individual who has overcome significant challenges to achieve personal and professional success. Despite a history of addiction and legal issues, including multiple DUIs and a felony conviction, she has transformed her life through faith and determination.

In 2011, a serious legal incident prompted Tonya to leave Michigan. Health issues in 2017 forced her return, where she underwent emergency back surgery. This period marked a profound personal transformation, guided by her faith and support from Women’s Resource Center.

Tonya pursued higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and planning to continue her studies at Paul Quinn College for a master’s degree. She has secured stable housing and employment with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Aquinas University.

In addition to her academic and professional achievements, Tonya is writing a book and is passionate about helping others who have faced childhood traumas through her ministry and personal story.

Tonya’s journey is a powerful example of redemption and resilience, and she continues to strive for personal growth and positive impact.
